Today we celebrated 5 days in row of 100% homework completion in period D with a cake!

We used math to figure out how to cut it into enough equal pieces, and we calculated the area and volume of each piece. It was a delicious way to celebrate. Keep it up!

We’re measuring our beans each day. It’s amazing how much they grow overnight!

We’ll gather height data for both types of beans for another week or so, and then we’ll start graphing.

We’re getting good at representing polynomial expressions with algetiles. Today we learned how to add trinomials!

We’ve got an adolescent care worker here at KCVI, and she’s looking forward to meeting everyone.

We used alge-tiles today to explore adding and subtracting integers (positive and negative numbers), and also as an introduction to algebra.

Having a colourful concrete representation that we can manipulate, is a real help when we’re learning new concepts.
